Africa's forestry sector generates enormous volumes of wood residue. Almost none of it is used. The Eswatini biomass project closes that gap directly.
Located in Bhunya, Eswatini, the project converts pine and eucalyptus sawmill waste from certified forestry operations into industrial-grade pellets for export to utility-scale power stations. No primary forest. Fully traceable. FSC-certified supply chain from forest to port.
Wood residues are sourced from nearby sawmill operations, processed into white pellets, and exported under a long-term offtake agreement to a large IPP in Réunion Island, supplying electricity to EDF and displacing coal. Delivered under an EPC contract by Lesedi Nuclear Services, funded by Pembani Remgro Infrastructure Fund.
