Candlewick designs and deploys hybrid renewable microgrids combining solar generation, battery storage, and backup systems to deliver 24/7 power to off-grid communities. Each system is built around the specific load profile and geography of its location. Where appropriate, biomass is integrated as a base load fuel source.
Key deployments include Malapascua Island in Cebu, a major tourist destination with over 30 hotels fully converted from unregulated diesel to a managed microgrid, and Rio Tuba in Palawan, a nickel mining community now served by clean, reliable electricity and water. The SMILE Project on Palawan delivers 24/7 power to approximately 570 households while integrating eco-tourism, skills development, and local ownership.
